Homemaking Journal

About 6 months ago, I found a blog post written about having a homemaking journal.  At first I was completely intrigued by such an idea.  A homemaking journal?  What was that?  What it is, is an amazing thing!  Its usually made in a three ring binder, and it's very helpful in managing your home.  I am not a very organized person, and I have a tendency to get overwhelmed easily and procrastinate.  By using a homemaking journal, it is much, much easier to keep important information all together, and keeping me on task.  Right now, in my homemaking journal I have a cleaning schedule and a morning and evening routine.  I have a master grocery list, and household supply list.  I have a bi-weekly meal plan worksheet, and I also have a section for my garden this year.  It is a list of what I'm planning, and all of the useful information for each plant.  Lastly, I have a year calendar for 2011 and a list of all the birthdays and anniversaries for our family.  I absolutely love having this journal!  I have my pages in sheet protectors, so when I'm cleaning a room I can check off what I have completed so I don't forget anything.  At this point, my homemaking journal is very simple and minimalistic.  I don't have any clip art, fancy dividers or a pretty decorated front.  That's the beauty of a homemaking journal, you can decorate it how you like, and put in it whatever you like.  A long time ago, it was common place for women to create and keep homemaking journals and pass them to their daughters so that they had all the tips, tricks and useful information their mothers had.  Here are a few pictures of my homemaking journal...

I strongly encourage anyone who reads this to make their own homemaking journal. Below is a link to a great website that has info on homemaking journal as well as some printables.  (This website also has some awesome tips for homemade cleaners, and much  much more!)

I've been slowly trying to get mine in up running order...I'm still in Auto-mom mode though after having my third child. But I'm slowly getting more and more done, so to see posts like this inspires me to do better and get on it!

Oh man, mine has been a work in progress for years now. LOL. Unfortunately, I'm better at planning than following through! Yours looks great!
